Kathryn Anthonisen, CANARIE
Kathryn has served as CANARIE’s Vice President, External Relations since 2012, after joining CANARIE in 2010 as Director of Communications. Responsible for all aspects of marketing and communications, Kathryn leads the team responsible for driving stakeholder awareness and engagement and promoting the impact of digital research and education infrastructure to Canada’s innovation capacity. During her tenure, Kathryn successfully reshaped the perception of the CANARIE brand from that of solely a network operator to an organization focussed on delivering a range of relevant and impactful digital infrastructure tools and services. Kathryn is also responsible for building productive relationships with national and global stakeholders, partners, global peer networks, and funders.
Prior to joining CANARIE, Kathryn held a variety of senior roles in marketing and communications in the private sector. Earlier in her career, she was an instructor and program administrator at Humber College in Toronto, and worked to develop a college curriculum in Financial Services while at the Institute of Canadian Bankers.
Kathryn earned her BA at McGill University and her MBA from Schulich School of Business, and spent a year studying French language and culture at the Sorbonne in Paris. Kathryn takes advantage of Ottawa’s extensive bike paths to commute to work until the snow flies, when she switches to skates and glides home on the Rideau Canal.
